Step 1: Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well so everything is evenly combined.
Step 2: Prepare wet mixture
In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Step 3: Make the batter
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently mix until you get a smooth batter. Do not overmix — small lumps are okay. Overmixing can make pancakes dense instead of fluffy.
Step 4: Heat the pan
Place a non-stick pan on medium heat. Lightly grease it with butter or oil.
Step 5: Cook the pancakes
Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the pan. Let it cook for 1–2 minutes. You’ll see bubbles forming on top — this means it’s ready to flip.
Step 6: Flip and cook
Flip the pancake and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
Step 7: Serve hot
Repeat with the remaining batter. Stack the pancakes and serve warm.
